Episode 46


Episode: Season 2 Episode 46 Belinda
Year: 1968
Location: Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
Description: Sonny and Skippy discover a horse roaming in the park. They lead the horse back to Ranger Headquarters to show Matt. He decides to place an add in the local paper, so the horse's owner can claim her. After almost two weeks nobody has turned up to claim the horse, so Sonny names the horse Belinda. Not to long after that a couple of strange characters show up at Ranger Headquarters, Mr Beasley and Mr Rix. They are a couple of horse thieves claiming to be Regal Lady's owners. Belinda (Regal Lady) escapes when the men try to force her into the horse float. Matt and Mark lend a hand to help Beasley and Rix find Regal Lady. In the mean time the horse's rightful owner, Paul Thurston arrives at Headquarters. Sonny tucks Regal Lady's  ownership papers into Skippy's pouch and tells her to find dad. Episode 68

Episode: Season 2 Episode 68 The Best Man
Year: 1968
Location: Mona Vale & Waratah Park
Description: Greg Haines, from station 'Green', is getting married. So it's all hands on deck. Matt will be giving the bride away, Mark and Sonny are ushers, Jerry is the best man. A call comes in over the radio, Jerry is dispatched  to sort out the trouble. After apprehending two youths in a boat causing havoc on the parks waterways Jerry receives another call, he must rescue a man caught on a ledge at Mt Simpson. When Jerry returns to headquarters he is confronted with the problem of no transport. So Clancy saddles up a horse for him, Jerry only just makes it to the church on time. Below are a collection of photos showing where the church was, surrounding shops and a couple of other buildings. The only objects to remain after 44 years that I could see were two norfolk pines, Mona Vale memorial hall and the heritage house, Dungarvon.  
Additional Notes: Local store keeper and boat builder James Booth was involved in the construction of St Johns church and Dungarvon. Dungarvon was constructed between the years 1906-1907. The church in the Skippy episode is not St Johns church. St Johns is located a few doors up from Dungarvon.

Episode 91

Episode: Season 3 Episode 91 Fred
Year: 1969
Location: McMahons Point,  Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
Description: A flower seller offers to sell Sir Adrian some native wild flowers fresh from Waratah National Park. Unbeknown to the lady she has just sold stolen property to the chairman of the National Parks Trust. After a meeting with Matt and Mark, Sir Adrian decides Mark and himself should go under cover as a couple of anglers. This way they can patrol the rivers without arousing suspicion. They spot a couple of suspect blokes in a boat who claim their machete is used for scaling fish. This prompts the decision to follow at a discrete distance. With a little help from Matt and Skippy they bust the operation wide open. Below are a collection of photos showing Sir Adrian purchasing the flowers, Sir Adrian and Mark at the jetty and Mark checking out the suspect fisherman.

Episode 58

Episode: Season 2 Episode 58 Surprise Surprise
Year: 1968
Location: Narrabeen Lakes, Wahroonga, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
Description: It is the 14th and nobody seems to have noticed that it's Clancy's birthday. The boys are secretly arranging a surprise party. To get Clancy out of the way for the day, it has been arranged she will go with Matt to Gavin's Weir to help with the depth survey.While caring out the depth survey, everything that can go wrong does go wrong. Back at headquarters, Mark and Sonny are struggling to find girls to invite  to the party. After a quick trip to town, six girls are plucked out of thin air just in time for the shindig. A broken propeller shaft forces Matt and Clancy to walk back to headquarters, they take a chance and head towards Cullen Creek Road hoping someone will pass by. In a few minutes they hear a car approaching, it's Lucky Johnson and he offers to gives them a lift back to headquarters. They arrive just in time for the party. Now how lucky was that?
